Our Holiday Accomodation in Skye
The Shepherd's Cottage, which is over 120 years old, has recently been renovated to a high standard and is the ideal romantic Highland Retreat. It is heated throughout by oil fired central heating.
Renovation
While renovating the traditional v-lining and brick fireplace were removed to reveal the amazing original hearth in the living room A wood burning stove will be installed in the autumn. To keep the character of the cottage v-lining has been used to revamp the living room and main bedroom. Oak flooring has been laid on the bedroom, living room and front hall floors, while slate is in the kitchen, bathroom and back hall. Bark-edged sycamore has been used on all window-sills and the window seat in the main bedroom. The internal doors are barn style with latches.
Kitchen
A Magnet, cream Shaker style, kitchen with integrated ceramic hob, double fan oven, dishwasher and washer/drier has been installed in the spacious kitchen. A fridge/ frreezer and microwave oven are also provided along with many other kitchen gadgets. A fold down TV with DVD is positioned under the corner cupboard There is a breakfast bar as well as a table and chairs for dining.
Living room
The original fireplace with granite hearth is the focal point in the living room. A flat screen television with SKY is positioned in one corner. An ox blood coloured leather Chesterfield sofa and chairs provide comfortable seating. Wireless Broadband is also provided, allowing for your laptop.
Master Bedroom
There are two double rooms in the cottage. The master bedroom, with Kingsize Sleigh bed, faces the Loch. It has been revamped with traditional v-lining and oak flooring. All linen and towels are provided.
Double Bedroom
The second room is smaller but is luxuriously comfortable with a memory foam mattress on the double bed.
Bathroom
The original free standing bath is complimented with a state of the art power shower.
The Farm
The cottage is situated on a working family farm. South Country Cheviot sheep graze the hills and fields behind and around the cottage, while Blackface sheep are run on Kraiknish across the loch. A suckler herd of beef cattle and followers are also reared on the property as well as a Highland Pony stud.
The owner still helps out on the family farm, returning home for lambing and shearing.
